Plant Manager Jobs in Wisconsin
A Plant Manager in the manufacturing industry is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of a manufacturing plant. This includes planning, organizing, directing and running optimum day-to-day operations to exceed customers' expectations, increasing production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards. They also have to ensure all employees follow industry standard health and safety guidelines. This role requires a deep understanding of the manufacturing process and the ability to successfully lead a team.
The important skills a Plant Manager should have include leadership, organization, analytical thinking, strong communication and interpersonal skills. They should also have knowledge of business and management principles, as well as safety, quality and productivity procedures. A bachelor's degree in industrial management, business administration or a related field is usually required, and some employers may prefer candidates with an MBA. Certifications in project management and lean manufacturing can also be beneficial. Prior to becoming a Plant Manager, a person may have roles such as Production Supervisor, Quality Control Manager, or Operations Manager, which provide valuable manufacturing experience and opportunities for leadership.
