Leidos Defense has a need for a Material & Production Support Technician supporting Navy environmental and shipboard equipment manufacturing operations in Chesapeake, VA. The selected candidate will support manufacturing operations, material management, shipping/receiving, inventory control, kit building, installation coordination, and electro-mechanical troubleshooting activities in support of program execution and customer delivery requirements. The position will work directly with the Program Site Lead and fellow technician staff to maintain operational flow, support fabrication activities, and ensure material accountability and organization within an ISO-9001 quality environment. This site fabricates electro-mechanical equipment per US NAVY build-to-print drawing packages and supports the customers with spare parts and troubleshooting.
Primary Responsibilities.
- Perform shipping, receiving, quality inspection, inventory tracking, and material accountability activities for manufacturing operations.
- Build and maintain material kits supporting fabrication and installation requirements.
- Maintain organization and upkeep of material storage, shelving, inventory locations, and shop workspaces.
- Participate in all material lifecycle activities including requisitioning, receiving, inspection, tracking, releasing, and shipping.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and drawings to perform/support troubleshooting and installation activities.
- Provide electro-mechanical troubleshooting and technical support for fabrication and installation activities.
- Prepare outgoing shipment preparation (crates, DCMA Mil-Std 129 packaging), packing lists, shipment labels, transportation arrangements (as needed), and material packaging for contract deliverables.
- Coordinate with technicians, subcontractors, suppliers, logistics personnel, and leadership to support operational execution and delivery schedules.
- Maintain electronic and paper records supporting ISO-9001 quality processes including material tracking, inspections, and work documentation.
- Perform/support onsite and field installation activities as required.
Basic Qualifications.
- Associate degree, technical training, military experience, or equivalent experience in electronics, logistics, manufacturing support, or maintenance operations.
- 3 years experience supporting material management, inventory, shipping/receiving, logistics, or maintenance operations.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and engineering drawings.
- Experience troubleshooting electro-mechanical or electronic systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational, communication, and team coordination skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing and operational support environment.
Preferred Qualifications.
- U.S. Navy maintenance, logistics, electronics, or shipboard systems experience.
- Experience supporting manufacturing or ISO-9001 environments.
- Experience with material kitting, inventory systems, and installation support activities.
- Prior experience working as part of a coordinated technician team.
