Production Supervisor Job Description This hands-on Production Supervisor role leads daily operations in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. You will work primarily on the production floor, driving safety, quality, and productivity while building and developing a strong, engaged team. In this high-visibility position, you will collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams to solve problems in real time, improve processes, and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality products. Responsibilities Lead and oversee daily production and packaging operations to meet safety, quality, and output goals. Serve as a visible, hands-on leader on the production floor, driving accountability, engagement, and performance. Supervise, coach, and develop hourly employees, coordinators, and temporary staff to build a high-performing team. Manage staffing levels, attendance, performance, and employee relations to ensure adequate coverage and a positive work environment. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and process improvement principles. Troubleshoot production and equipment issues in real time to minimize downtime and maintain throughput. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across safety, quality, productivity, and cost, and act on trends to improve results. Ensure strict compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety standards, and operational procedures. Partner cross-functionally with Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Operations teams to resolve issues and enhance overall performance. Support changeovers and ensure smooth production flow across lines and processes. Promote a strong safety culture by reinforcing safe work practices and addressing hazards promptly. Communicate clearly and consistently with team members and leadership regarding expectations, priorities, and performance. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with a track record of driving safety, quality, and production results. Manufacturing leadership experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG) or high-volume production environments preferred. Proven ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment with a strong production floor leadership presence. Experience managing employee relations, including performance, attendance, staffing, and coaching. Strong safety and quality mindset with a commitment to maintaining high standards. Solid understanding of production flow, equipment troubleshooting, and managing changeovers. Exposure to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles. Strong communication skills with the ability to coach, develop, and influence team members at all levels. Resilient, organized, and able to perform effectively under pressure while managing multiple priorities. Demonstrated supervisory, operations management, and production management skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing leadership experience will also be considered. Experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG) or other high-volume manufacturing environments is a plus. Experience in quality management and process improvement within a manufacturing setting. Familiarity with key performance indicators (KPIs) and data-driven decision making. Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for developing people and improving operations. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions. Work Environment This role is primarily based on the production floor within a manufacturing environment, offering a hands-on, high-activity setting rather than a desk-based position. The standard schedule follows a four-day workweek, Monday through Thursday, from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM (4x10s). Flexibility is required for overtime and occasional weekend support based on production needs, and you are expected to arrive before shift start and remain after shift end as needed to support operations. The environment emphasizes safety, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and consistent adherence to standard operating procedures and production standards.
