Composite Technician I - Poway - 1st Shift & 2nd Shift Job Description As a Composite Technician I, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing advanced composite structures using materials such as carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass. You will read and interpret blueprints, prepare molds, and perform material lay-up, curing, and finishing processes. Your role will involve assembling components by trimming, drilling, bonding, and fastening parts to meet precise engineering specifications. Ensuring quality through detailed inspections, collaborating with other teams to resolve assembly challenges, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment are crucial aspects of this position. Responsibilities Precisely align and fit composite parts and subassemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications. Apply structural adhesives, sealants, and bonding agents to join composite components. Install fasteners such as rivets, bolts, and screws using hand and power tools. Assemble complex structures by integrating hardware and mating composite parts with metallic or non-metallic elements. Prepare bonding surfaces by sanding, cleaning, and treating as required. Set up and use assembly jigs, fixtures, and templates to maintain dimensional accuracy and repeatability. Perform basic functional checks and preliminary inspections to verify assembly quality. Record assembly steps, process parameters, and any deviations from standard procedures. Work closely with engineering, quality, and fabrication teams to resolve assembly challenges. Assist in the preparation of molds and forms. Mark and cut materials following templates, guides, or specific dimensions. Route, drill, trim, and sand to blueprint dimensions and tolerances. Maintain work area in an orderly condition by returning tools, equipment, and materials to storage. Essential Skills Experience with composites, manufacturing, layup, lamination, and blueprints. Familiarity with vacuum bagging, aerospace fabrication, prepreg, and carbon fiber. Strong work ethic and experience in assembly, fabrication, or mechanics. Ability to verbally communicate, read and comprehend written and verbal instructions, detailed blueprints, and other authorized documents. Proficiency in using hand tools such as rollers, paper cutters, scissors, x-acto knives, and fixtures such as molds and mandrels. Capability to use measuring instruments such as scales, protractors, and calipers. Additional Skills & Qualifications May require respirator certification. Ability to work in a loud environment. Willingness to work extended hours as required. Capability to lift assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work schedule is 8 on 1st shift from 5am to 2:30pm following a 9/80 schedule. The environment may be loud, and you will be required to use various tools and equipment in a hands-on setting. Safety and adherence to established operating procedures and practices are paramount. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poway, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.64 - $21.64/hr.
