Seattle City Light is seeking an energy-savvy Transportation Electrification Maintenance Coordinator to support its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, which includes our public EV charging infrastructure. This person will work closely with program managers in CES and may potentially transfer to support the Operations division to execute O&M strategy. This position ensures the ongoing maintenance, repair, and operational oversight of utility-owned EV charging infrastructure. The role focuses on maximizing charger reliability, maintaining compliance with state and federal requirements, tracking charger performance, and delivering positive, dependable customer experience.

This position will report to the EV Charging Operations Strategy Lead.

Job Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating preventative and reactive maintenance with internal and external teams, including site visits, repairs, and response to vandalism or equipment failures.
  • Establishing and maintaining site specific maintenance and emergency plans that ensure sites are clean, safe, ready for an emergency, and that site hosts are engaged.
  • Conducting asset lifecycle planning, including establishing maintenance schedules and protocols to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
  • Administering data collection and performance tracking, including monitor and report charger performance and reliability through network/OEM systems and escalate issues as needed.
  • Managing customer service escalations, including responding to customer issues, as well as maintaining signage and user interfaces, providing accurate station status updates, and improving customer experience.
  • Working with network providers and manufacturers to diagnose and resolve issues, manage network connectivity, procure replacement equipment, and commission new stations.
  • Maintaining a complete inventory of equipment, specifications, and locations.
  • Managing procurement, installation, and onboarding of parts, equipment, and network and maintenance services. This work includes contract development, vendor oversight, and cost-tracking.
  • Supporting development of long-term EV charging operations and maintenance plans.
  • Researching market trends, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and compiling operational lessons learned to inform future network/equipment needs.
  • This position may require dispatch to SCL service locations throughout the workday and occasionally during non-scheduled hours.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a minimum of three years project or construction management or related experience and a Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, Urban Planning or related field (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment.
  • Field assignments entail exposure to all types of weather and hazardous construction sites.

License, Certification and Other Requirements

You

must hold a current valid state issued drivers license from any US state to be

verified prior to start date. Out of state license holders will be required to

obtain a WA state license within 30 days of hire.

Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:

  • Experience maintaining or operating EV chargers, electrical equipment, or similar field assets.
  • Familiarity with EV charging technology, networked systems, and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to coordinate contractors, vendors, and field crews for maintenance and repairs.
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting technical problems.
  • Experience with remote monitoring platforms and troubleshooting network or connectivity issues.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate asset inventories and documentation.
  • Experience with procurement, contracting, permitting, or inspections for infrastructure assets.
  • Knowledge of safety practices, electrical safety, and utility compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines.
  • Project management experience and/or PMP certification.
  • Be able to lift 30-40 pounds.

Additional Information

The full salary range for this position is $55.96 to $65.41 per hour.
