Distribution Manager Jobs in Washington
A Distribution Manager in the manufacturing industry is primarily responsible for overseeing and managing the entire distribution process. This includes coordinating and tracking the shipment of goods from the point of origin to the point of consumption to meet customer requirements. They closely monitor warehouse activities to ensure that all products are stored correctly and inventory levels are maintained accurately. The Distribution Manager also plays a crucial role in improving efficiency, reducing costs, and maximizing productivity through strategic planning and implementing the best distribution practices.
Essential skills for a Distribution Manager include excellent organizational and communication skills, strong leadership and team management abilities, and proficiency in inventory software. They should also have a solid understanding of supply chain procedures and experience in logistics. Certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) from APICS and Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) from the Institute for Supply Management can add value to their profile. Prior to becoming a Distribution Manager, an individual may have roles such as Warehouse Supervisor, Logistics Coordinator, or Supply Chain Analyst.
