Machine Operator Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Machine Operator to apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to work order specifications. The role involves maintaining processing equipment in a safe and clean condition and ensuring the processing area is organized. You will be responsible for entering required information accurately and performing any additional tasks as assigned. Responsibilities Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. Pull, inspect, and verify product before processing. Set up equipment properly and safely to run material to setup note specifications. Process setup notes according to work order specifications. Verify that product meets setup note specifications per written work instructions and record measurements. Communicate with sales representatives regarding order changes or clarifications. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment. Properly enter/delete material identification tags per written instructions. Assist in the packaging of material per written work instructions and work order. Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition. Operate weighing scale and record inspection measurements. Identify, record, and segregate scrap and non-conforming material. Provide feedback regarding machine efficiency and product quality. Complete responsibilities safely, avoiding unsafe situations. Train others when required. Assist in activities related to lean and/or quality improvements. Essential Skills Certification in material handling. Ability to read and write. Basic math skills. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. 2+ years of saw operation experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Experience in operating forklifts and cranes. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Previous warehouse experience, especially in the metals industry. Experience with hand-held measuring tools. Computer literacy.
