Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Are you a strategic leader ready to take ownership of critical plant systems? We're seeking an experienced Facilities & Environmental Operations Manager to lead and oversee the functional areas of environmental control, facilities operations, chemical technology operations, and facility maintenance production support in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
In this dynamic role, you'll report directly to the Plant Manager and be responsible for managing cross-functional teams, driving operational excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and executing impactful capital projects to support world-class facility standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead teams of skilled personnel to meet plant objectives in the areas of facilities, environment, safety, cost, and capacity in a 24x7 operating environment.
Recruit, hire and develop an organization to support process, mechanical and electrical systems and infrastructure chemical technology and facilities on a daily basis.
Maintain criteria for staffing and selection, performance evaluations, and compensation administration.
Effectively grow team and individual skill levels, enabling continuous improvement, personnel growth, and the ability to manage projects.
Resolve conflicts and coach teams.
Manage staffing and overtime.
Develop and track department performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Oversee and maintain the overall Concord plant facility systems to meet world class standards
Manage environmental compliance activities for the factory in cooperation with the plant EHS department and the corporate environmental organization.
Develop and execute a multi-year strategy to ensure reliable operation of the plant facilities infrastructure to support a 24x7 manufacturing environment.
Initiate capital projects and secure funding approval for plant facility and infrastructure initiatives. Projects typically address safety/environmental, equipment obsolescence, capacity/expansion, and cost reduction.
Lead the development of a plantwide maintenance strategy collaborating with the Engineering and Operations organizations. Lead the corporate maintenance network self-assessment and appropriate elements of the manufacturing excellence assessment (AME).
Manage day-to-day operations
Oversee plant raw materials quality and delivery.
Set and meet department and project timelines, budget, and technology performance standards.
Develop and plan plant shutdown activities, including operations downtime, budget, timeline, and resourcing.
Manage contract support for facilities - cleaning, landscaping, etc.
Drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
