Primary Responsibilities
- Use a variety of machining tools and equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines to shape and form raw materials
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specification charts to gain a thorough understanding of requirements
- Craft and assemble tools, dies, and molds using a combination of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments while ensuring the components meet exacting standards for accuracy and quality
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and adjustments on existing tools and dies to ensure consistent and precise performance, identify issues, troubleshoot, and implement fixes to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency
- Use computer-aided design software (CAD) to develop accurate and precise plans that guide the manufacturing process
- Inspect finished components for defects, deviations from specifications, and overall quality
- Analyze and resolve issues related to tooling and production processes
- Choose appropriate materials for tool and die construction based on their mechanical properties, durability, and compatibility with manufacturing processes
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of tool designs, modifications, repairs, and maintenance activities for traceability, knowledge sharing, and future reference
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while operating machinery and working with various materials
Education Requirements and Skills
- Education: Certificate or Associates Degree
- 3 to 5years of experience focused on die making, jig and fixtures, and precision machining
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, datasheets, and specifications
- Proficiency in: CAD
- Understanding of: basic math
- Proficiency with the following software systems: Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate.
