In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining precision stamping presses to produce high-quality metal components. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, a sharp eye for quality control, and a strong commitment to workplace safety. This is a 1st shift position with a starting pay rate of $15.00 per hour. Key Responsibilities Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and operate mechanical or hydraulic stamping presses according to blueprints, engineering drawings, and job specifications. Die Installation: Install, align, and secure dies and progressive tools into the press using hand tools and measuring instruments. Material Handling: Load metal coils or blanks into feeding mechanisms and adjust feed rates, stroke balance, and pressure settings as needed. Quality Control: Inspect finished parts visually and use precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to ensure compliance with tolerances and quality standards. Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine preventative maintenance on machinery and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues to reduce downtime. Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, ensure machine guards are in place, and maintain a clean, hazard-free work area. Documentation: Accurately record production counts, scrap rates, downtime, and maintenance activity in production tracking systems. Qualifications & Skills Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. 1-3 years of experience operating stamping presses or working in a heavy manufacturing or metal fabrication environment. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job routers. Proficiency using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and go/no-go gauges. Excellent mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently while meeting production and quality expectations. Preferred: Experience with progressive dies and automated coil feed systems. Forklift and/or overhead crane certification. Basic computer skills for production reporting and data entry. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly. Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time, up to 8-10 hours per shift. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, loud manufacturing environment; hearing protection may be required. Willingness to work around moving mechanical equipment while following all required safety procedures.
