Forklift Operator Job Description This role involves safely operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment to move, store, and prepare products for shipment while maintaining accurate inventory records and a clean, safe work environment. You support daily warehouse operations by loading and unloading shipments, organizing stock, and coordinating with other departments to ensure efficient and accurate order fulfillment. Responsibilities Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and other warehouse equipment in accordance with safety guidelines. Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring products move efficiently to and from storage locations. Verify the accuracy, quantity, and condition of inbound and outbound shipments and promptly report any issues or discrepancies. Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy and adherence to customer standards. Maintain inventory control by assisting with stock rotation, cycle counts, and physical inventory counts. Efficiently stack, store, and organize merchandise in appropriate storage areas according to internal and customer-specific guidelines. Use RF scanners to locate, pick, and track inventory and maintain accurate records of product movement. Support general warehouse tasks such as labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, pallet repair, and light assembly as needed. Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and in compliance with OSHA and MSDS safety standards. Perform minor equipment maintenance and complete required timecards, logs, and operational reports accurately and on time. Coordinate daily activities with Customer Service, Transportation, and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Follow all material handling procedures to minimize product damage and maintain a safe, orderly warehouse environment. Essential Skills Proven ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently in a warehouse environment. Ability to operate pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment in a safe and controlled manner. Experience with loading and unloading inbound shipments and moving products to designated storage locations. Strong skills in stacking, storing, and organizing merchandise in appropriate areas according to operational guidelines. Experience with order picking, packing, and preparing shipments to meet customer standards. Hands-on experience with inventory control, including stock rotation and supporting physical inventory counts. Ability to use RF scanners for order picking, inventory tracking, and verification tasks. Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes and related documentation. Capability to perform general labor and material handling tasks in a warehouse setting. Commitment to following OSHA and MSDS safety standards and maintaining a clean, orderly work area. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with coordinating work with Customer Service, Transportation, and Maintenance teams.
