Job Description
The Engineering Technician plays a vital role in supporting assigned value streams by providing hands-on manufacturing engineering support. This position is focused on maintaining process capability, responding to daily production needs, and assisting in troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives. The technician acts as a crucial link between engineering intent and shop-floor execution, ensuring seamless integration and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Execute hands-on assembly, build, test, repair, and data collection activities to support manufacturing engineering changes, validations, and daily production stability.
- Assemble prototypes, fixtures, tooling, and test setups per approved prints and work instructions.
- Support first article inspections and line trials.
- Perform dimensional checks, basic metrology, and accurate data logging of yield, cycle time, and defects to enable fact-based engineering decisions.
- Execute preventive maintenance and minor corrective maintenance on production fixtures, tools, and test equipment.
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical, electrical, and process issues on the shop floor; isolate faults and escalate with clear, concise technical information.
- Audit and provide feedback and redlines to work instructions and checklists.
- Maintain 5S standards and organization at workstations, labs, benches, and tool cribs.
- Adjust processes within kitting, cutting, and forming with a heavy focus on heating and pressurization.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of experience with hand tools and power tools.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment.
- Experience in operating various PLC-controlled production equipment.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and interpreting technical reports and instructions.
- Ability to file and maintain accurate records.
- Experience with building, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment and assemblies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- BSET or Associate's Degree preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
- Knowledge in process improvement, manufacturing process, tooling, machining, and fabrication.
Work Environment
The work environment is a recently remodeled facility featuring a very clean manufacturing space and a game room area. Independence is essential as there will be no direct manager on this shift. The facility supports a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a focus on safety and efficiency.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
