Molding Operator Job Description The Molding Operator sets up, operates, and tends specialized molding and assembly equipment to produce high-quality components for the medical device industry. This role performs repetitive production tasks with precision, including machine operation, basic part trimming, assembly of small plastic medical components, and final packaging and labeling. The position requires strong attention to detail, comfort working under a microscope, and the ability to follow work orders and quality standards in a cleanroom manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Operate and tend injection molding machines to produce medical device components according to established procedures and work orders. Move between injection molding and assembly areas as production needs require. Perform basic machine operation steps, including closing the machine door, initiating the cycle, unloading finished parts, and completing basic trimming of parts. Assemble small plastic medical parts by hand or with simple tools, ensuring correct fit, orientation, and function. Conduct visual inspections and quality checks on parts, including using microscopes to verify that products meet specifications and quality standards. Package, label, and prepare finished products for shipment or further processing in accordance with documented instructions. Read and follow work orders, production documentation, and written instructions accurately. Maintain a consistent work pace while performing highly repetitive tasks with accuracy and attention to detail. Identify basic issues with parts or processes and escalate concerns or troubleshooting needs to appropriate personnel. Support general production and cleanroom housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area. Follow all cleanroom protocols, safety procedures, and manufacturing guidelines at all times. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production status, issues, and suggestions for improvement. Demonstrate reliable attendance, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic to support team and production goals. Essential Skills Experience in a manufacturing, production, or general labor environment, with some prior manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Ability to operate basic production or machine equipment in a consistent and safe manner. Ability to read and understand work orders and follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Experience working with or using microscopes for inspection or detailed work. Comfort performing highly repetitive tasks while maintaining focus and quality. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Good communication skills to interact effectively with coworkers and supervisors. Reliable attendance and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in injection molding operations is a plus but not required. Will check for Background in medical device manufacturing or cleanroom production is beneficial. Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and recognize issues in parts or processes. Willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and procedures through on-the-job training. Interest in ongoing training and development opportunities to grow within a manufacturing environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
