General Production Associate Job Description This role supports manufacturing and production operations in multiple departments within a large, 24/7 plastic extrusion facility. You will work a rotating first-shift schedule in areas such as Knitting, Laminator, Roll Converter, and Extruder lines, performing hands-on tasks that keep production running smoothly while maintaining high safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Assist production on the Laminator, Knitting, Roll Converter, and Extruder lines to ensure efficient and continuous operation. Perform core extraction on the four affected areas of each line, following established procedures and safety guidelines. Monitor the extrusion process closely and promptly identify and respond to potential quality issues. Wrap rolls of product accurately and securely to prepare them for further processing or shipment. Mix chemicals according to specified formulas and instructions while adhering to safety protocols. Use lift assist equipment to handle materials safely and reduce physical strain. Lift up to 50 pounds frequently during the shift, including tasks that require bending, twisting, pulling, and pushing an air bar into cores. Stand for long periods of time during the shift while performing production and inspection tasks. Walk up stairs and work on catwalks in certain roles, maintaining comfort and safety at elevated heights. Perform inspection, assembly, packaging, general production, machine operation, and general labor tasks as assigned. Pay close attention to detail to identify defects, document findings, and maintain quality records. Communicate with supervisors and other leaders to report progress, share data, and explain action items that need to be addressed. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and organized work area. Demonstrate reliability by working scheduled hours and arriving on time for each shift. Participate in plant tours and on-the-job evaluations that assess attitude, work readiness, and willingness to perform assigned duties. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED. Previous manufacturing experience in a production environment. Previous machine operation experience. Ability to work a rotating first-shift schedule of four 12-hour days (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) alternating between Monday-Thursday and Tuesday-Friday each week. Ability to work required hours consistently and arrive on time. Capability to lift 50 pounds frequently and perform tasks that involve bending, twisting, pulling, and pushing. Comfort standing for long periods during the shift. Ability to work at heights, including walking up stairs and working on catwalks, for roles that require it. Strong problem-solving skills and analytical ability. Effective communication skills to interact with supervisors and report progress, data, and action items. Good attitude and willingness to perform all aspects of the job, as evaluated during the plant tour. Comfort working in a large manufacturing facility with plastic extrusion processes. Ability to follow safety procedures and use PPE, including safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel toe or composite shoes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Two years of recent manufacturing experience with the same company is preferred. Attention to detail and strong documentation skills. Experience with inspection, assembly, packaging, general production, machine operation, and general labor tasks. Comfort using lift assist equipment and handling materials safely. Ability to wear a respirator in departments where it is required. Willingness to work in various departments and adapt to different shift times within a 24/7 operation.
