CNC Mill Operator (Haas and Charmilles) & Inspection Department Lead
Location: Schaumburg, IL Company: Con-Form Industries
We are a growing precision manufacturing company seeking an experienced CNC Mill Operator to join our team. We operate Haas and Charmilles Mills and are looking for a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in producing high-quality precision components.
Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day operations of the milling department
- Set up and operate CNC mills
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T
- Perform in-process and final inspections using metrology equipment (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, etc.)
- Make tool offsets and minor program adjustments as needed
- Monitor machine performance, maintain tight tolerances, and conduct routine maintenance
- Coordinate and oversee final inspection activities to ensure parts meet customer specifications and quality standards
- Support calibration and proper care of inspection equipment and gauges
- Help prioritize inspection workload to support on-time delivery schedules
- Coordinate shipping activities including verifying completed jobs, packaging parts appropriately, and preparing shipments for customers
- Ensure parts are properly labeled, packaged, and protected prior to shipment
- Work with management to help maintain shipping accuracy, organization, and delivery performance
- Assist with inventory organization and movement of completed jobs throughout the facility
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Fill out parts requisitions, tool requests, shipping paperwork, and other required documentation
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules and customer deadlines
- Perform other related tasks as requested by Shop Foreman and/or Owner
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of CNC mill experience
- Strong blueprint reading skills
- Knowledge of basic machine shop equipment and processes (lathes, grinders, mills, etc.)
- Proficiency with precision measuring and inspection equipment
- Understanding of tolerances, quality standards, and inspection procedures
- Familiarity with shipping, packaging, and shop workflow coordination preferred
- Ability to work independently and help lead departmental activities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong organizational and communication skills
