Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description

This Manufacturing Engineer (Pre-Production Engineer) role focuses on planning, managing, and executing model line activities and project schedules to ensure successful model launches that are on time, produce high-quality parts, and achieve the lowest possible cost. You will lead pre-production engineering efforts, develop and improve processes, and create manufacturing documentation while working closely with a team of experienced engineers in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and follow up on all activities associated with model line projects, including collecting data, analyzing data, and preparing required documentation.
  • Develop logical and structured project plans, implement those plans, and manage follow-up activities to ensure timely and successful model launches.
  • Create, maintain, and improve standardized work documents, including work instructions and manufacturing documentation.
  • Motivate and direct a team of peers through a practical problem-solving format to resolve issues and drive improvements.
  • Prepare and present results, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
  • Develop, implement, and analyze technical products, systems, and processes to support manufacturing operations.
  • Perform engineering design evaluations and develop a range of processes to improve production efficiency and quality.
  • Recommend alterations to product development and design to improve product quality and enhance manufacturing procedures.
  • Apply standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the manufacturing engineering field, leveraging education and expertise to solve problems and implement improvements.
  • Identify issues within processes or systems and present clear, actionable plans for correction and improvement.
  • Work on assignments and tasks as directed by the supervisor, ensuring alignment with project goals and company policies.
  • Manage activities and project schedules, including detailed tasks and key event milestones, to ensure model launches are on time, meet quality expectations, and minimize costs.
  • Contribute to process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
  • Support the development and optimization of equipment layouts, process flows, and related manufacturing documentation.
Essential Skills
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with manufacturing documentation such as work instructions, process layouts, and standardized work documents.
  • Strong background in manufacturing engineering, including process improvement and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and manage project activities and schedules for model line launches.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to support decision-making and process improvements.
  • Proficiency in developing and evaluating engineering designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to create and maintain equipment layouts and process flows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and develop corrective action plans.
  • Ability to motivate and direct a team of peers through structured problem-solving methods.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present results and recommendations clearly.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in manufacturing engineering.
  • Proficiency in creating and updating standardized work documents and work instructions.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks and Creo.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to new program or model launches in a production setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
  • Comfort working with cross-functional teams to implement process and design changes.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and milestones simultaneously.
Work Environment

This role is based in an assembly environment within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing setting. Typical work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with work primarily focused on pre-production and new program launches. You will collaborate closely with a team of experienced engineers and production personnel, using tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, and other engineering and documentation systems to support model line activities and continuous improvement efforts.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lebanon, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $43.00/hr.
