JOB SUMMARY:
The CNC Machinist II performs intermediate-level machining tasks with minimal supervision. This role involves programming, setting up and operating CNC dual-spindle lathes for low to medium volume precision machining. Interpreting complex drawings and collaborating across departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and modify machining programs using CAM software (Mastercam preferred)
  • Experience or familiarity operating CMX, NHX, DMU65, DMU50, and VCF CNC machines
  • Design and build tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutions
  • Perform machine setup including tooling offsets, work offsets, and prove-out of new programs
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, including GD&T
  • Inspect in-process and finished parts using precision measuring equipment
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues to improve quality and efficiency
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical challenges
  • Operate basic shop equipment including bandsaws, manual lathes, mills, drill presses, and shears
  • Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in a clean and safe condition
  • Follow all company safety procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Mentor junior machinists and support skill development within the team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required.

3-10 years of CNC machining experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to independently program, set up, and operate CNC lathes with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds/speeds, and workholding
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Experience using precision inspection equipment
  • Experience with dual-spindle CNC lathes
  • Experience with mill-turn machining
  • Familiarity with DN Solutions lathes
  • Experience with BMT65 live tooling systems
  • Mastercam programming experience
  • Experience machining tight-tolerance, high-performance, or defense-related components
  • Familiarity with FANUC-based controls
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ownership of standard machinist tools
