Job Title: Machine Set Up Operator

Job Description

This role is ideal for hands-on, mechanically minded individuals who enjoy working with equipment, solving problems, and seeing the results of their work every day. You will learn how to set up and run ACME screw machines and industrial cold heading machines that produce high volumes of precision metal parts used in real-world applications. Prior cold heading experience is not required, as comprehensive training is available for motivated candidates with the right attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate cold heading and screw machines to produce high-volume precision metal parts.

  • Learn to dial in machines, adjust tooling, and optimize settings to keep production running efficiently.

  • Inspect parts during setup and throughout production to ensure they meet customer blueprints and specifications.

  • Run multiple machines simultaneously once properly trained and qualified.

  • Troubleshoot production issues and make appropriate adjustments to maintain consistent quality output.

  • Perform basic machine maintenance and preventive upkeep to minimize downtime.

  • Keep the work area organized and clean in alignment with 5S standards.

  • Accurately complete production, quality, and related documentation.

  • Collaborate closely with team members to keep production flowing smoothly and safely.

  • Operate and support equipment such as lathes, mills, shears, and other mechanical machinery as needed.

  • Set up machines, including ACME screw machines and cold heading machines, according to established procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a mechanical mindset, with a genuine interest in working with hands and tools.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to ensure parts meet required specifications.

  • Troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve machine or production issues.

  • Experience or comfort with preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment.

  • Comfort working around industrial machinery in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Dependable, team-oriented approach with a willingness to learn and take direction.

  • Ability to maintain an organized workspace and follow 5S or similar workplace organization standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with equipment in environments such as farming, automotive, machining, or maintenance.

  • Familiarity with machine shop tools and equipment, including lathes, mills, and shears.

  • Experience with machine setup, particularly ACME screw machines or cold heading machines, is a plus.

  • Background in mechanical assembly or related mechanical work.

  • Openness to training on specialized equipment and processes in a niche manufacturing environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wyoming, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
