Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
Job Description
This role focuses on converting standard trucks and vans into fully equipped work vehicles tailored to the needs of a wide range of customers. You will use mechanical, electrical, and basic construction skills to install and assemble equipment, ensuring each vehicle meets quality, safety, and functional requirements.
Responsibilities
Convert standard trucks and vans into fully outfitted work vehicles according to customer specifications and technical drawings.
Perform mechanical assembly of components, fixtures, and equipment using a variety of hand tools and power tools.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and layout drawings to guide installation and assembly work.
Measure, mark, and cut materials accurately using a tape measure and other measuring tools to ensure precise fit and alignment.
Install mechanical and basic electrical components as part of vehicle upfitting, following schematics and safety guidelines.
Apply basic construction techniques to build, mount, and secure shelving, racks, partitions, and other interior or exterior structures.
Inspect completed assemblies and installations to verify proper operation, alignment, and adherence to quality standards.
Troubleshoot and adjust assemblies or installations when issues arise, making corrections to meet specifications.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and care of tools and equipment.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize tasks, meet project deadlines, and support continuous improvement of processes.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 2+ years of recent mechanical building experience in areas such as construction, mechanical assembly, or similar hands-on roles.
Proficiency in using a tape measure and accurately interpreting measurements.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for mechanical and basic electrical assemblies.
Hands-on experience using hand tools and basic power tools for mechanical assembly.
Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with vehicle components and upfitting tasks.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and work from technical documentation.
Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in construction, fabrication, or vehicle upfitting environments.
Familiarity with basic electrical work related to vehicle or equipment installations.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
Good communication skills to coordinate tasks and clarify specifications when needed.

Work Environment
This role is based in a light-duty commercial vehicle upfitting facility that has grown from a small family-owned operation into a premier provider with multiple locations. The environment emphasizes professionalism, integrity, and high-quality service for a diverse customer base, including fleet managers, dealerships, utilities, government agencies, and contractors. You will work in a shop setting using hand tools, power tools, tape measures, and other standard equipment to assemble and install components on trucks and vans. The facility offers an easy-going atmosphere with flexibility around working hours and day-to-day needs, reflecting a culture that values both productivity and work-life balance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brookfield, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
