The Industrial Hygienist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and controlling occupational health hazards in the workplace to protect employee health and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. This role conducts exposure assessments, implements control strategies, provides technical expertise, and promotes a culture of safety through training and communication.
Key Responsibilities include:
Conduct workplace surveys and walkthroughs to identify chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards.
Perform quantitative exposure assessments (air sampling, noise monitoring, radiation surveys, etc.).
Recommend engineering controls (ventilation, enclosure, substitution).
Recommend administrative controls and safe work practices.
Oversee selection and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA, Fed OSHA, local regulations, and any sitespecific regulations.
Produce clear, concise communication materials (employee exposure reports).
Incident
Participate in incident and nearmiss investigations to determine root causes related to IH hazards.
Recommend corrective actions and followup verification.
Stay current with emerging hazards, new exposure limits, and bestpractice technologies.
Evaluate and recommend new monitoring equipment or software tools.
