Mixer Operator Job Description The Mixer Operator is responsible for accurately mixing materials for multiple production lines and ensuring that all lines remain consistently supplied. This role involves weighing and measuring ingredients according to product specifications, operating mixing systems and heavy equipment safely, and supporting a strong safety and quality culture within the facility. Responsibilities Promote a culture of safety within the department by setting a positive example and prioritizing safe work practices. Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements, to ensure safe operation of equipment. Mix various materials for different product lines according to established formulations and specifications. Coordinate the completion of mixes to ensure production lines remain full and running efficiently. Learn and understand the ingredients required for each formulation and apply that knowledge consistently. Understand the full operation of the mixing system, including material flow from bins to mixers. Weigh and measure proper amounts of product or ingredients on a scale in line with product specifications. Follow quality control cleanout procedures to maintain product integrity and prevent cross-contamination. Train on and use software systems for mixing materials and tracking production. Verify that all required ingredients are present and correct before starting each mix. Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure all materials are available when needed. Measure and handle hand-add materials using a scale as required by the formulation. Safely operate cranes and forklifts to move materials and equipment. Maintain a consistent rate of production and work to reduce machine downtime. Complete all required documentation and tracking related to production, materials, and equipment. Perform routine oiling, greasing, and cleaning of equipment as required to keep machinery in good working order. Perform other duties as assigned to support overall production and facility operations. Essential Skills Experience with mixing, production, machine operation, general labor, or similar industrial roles. Ability to safely operate large and heavy equipment, including cranes and forklifts. Strong verbal and communication skills to coordinate with team members and other departments. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment. Reliable work habits and the ability to maintain a consistent work schedule. Ability to complete required documentation and tracking accurately and on time. Strong mechanical aptitude, including the ability to oil, grease, and clean equipment as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Forklift experience preferred. Comfort working with production software or willingness to learn new systems. Experience in manufacturing, pressing, or similar industrial environments is an advantage. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based inside the pressing department, where press machines run 24/7 in a continuous production setting. The department is adjacent to the kiln area and is not climate controlled, so temperatures can become very hot during the summer months. The environment can be dusty due to raw materials and sand particles in the air. Team members work around heavy machinery and equipment, following strict safety procedures and using appropriate protective equipment as required.
