Machinist Job Description This role involves setting up and operating a variety of manual and CNC machine tools to produce precision metal parts, instruments, and tools to exact specifications and tolerances. The machinist fabricates new machine parts, reads and interprets technical documentation, and ensures all finished components meet strict quality and safety standards while supporting continuous improvement in the manufacturing process. Responsibilities Set up and operate manual and CNC milling machines, lathes, and surface grinders to fabricate new machine parts to required dimensions and tolerances. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand specifications, tolerances, and machining requirements. Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each job based on part design and machining conditions. Perform machine setups, including changeovers, to efficiently run different parts and jobs. Measure and inspect finished parts using appropriate measuring tools to verify they meet precise dimensions and quality standards. Adjust machine settings such as speed, feed, and depth of cut to optimize part quality and production efficiency. Troubleshoot issues with machinery and machining processes and perform necessary adjustments or minor repairs. Participate in rebuilding and building functions of equipment as needed to support maintenance and production goals. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and perform routine machine maintenance. Follow all safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries in the manufacturing environment. Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members to optimize manufacturing processes and improve product quality. Stay current with advancements in machining technology, tooling, and techniques and apply new knowledge to daily work. Work effectively in a team environment and maintain reliable, regular attendance. Work overtime when required based on business needs. Essential Skills At least 3 years of machinist experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment. Proficiency with manual milling machines (such as Bridgeport) and manual lathes. Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC machines. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Strong skills in performing machine setups and changeovers. Ability to select and use appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials. Competence in measuring and inspecting parts to tight tolerances using standard inspection tools. Ability to adjust machine parameters to control speed, feed, and other machining variables. Troubleshooting skills for resolving machining and basic equipment issues. Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe work environment. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and maintain consistent, dependable attendance. Willingness and ability to work overtime as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with both manual and CNC machining operations. Experience in machine operating within a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment. Interest in obtaining additional certifications related to machining or manufacturing. Work Environment This position is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility, where you will work around production machinery and equipment. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime as business needs require. The environment is hands-on and fast-paced, with a strong focus on safety, organization, and teamwork. Uniforms are provided, and laptops and radios are supplied for applicable roles to support communication and technical work on the shop floor. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Ocala, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
