Assembly Technician Job Description This role focuses on assembling and fabricating advanced composite components using materials such as carbon fiber, Kevlar, and complex adhesive systems. You will support the production of spacecraft and military hardware, working with a high level of discipline, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. The position requires broad experience in aerospace composite assembly and a willingness to perform a wide range of fabrication tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Assemble aircraft components and subassemblies in accordance with manufacturing plans, engineering drawings, specifications, and written instructions. Attach mechanical fasteners and other hardware onto components or subassemblies using rivets, screws, adhesives, and other fastening systems. Prepare surfaces for bonding by performing light sanding and other surface preparation activities as required. Perform masking operations on composite and metallic components and subassemblies to support priming and related finishing operations. Carry out edge and core filling operations as required to complete final assemblies to specification. Identify and mark parts in accordance with customer specifications and part marking requirements. Verify that materials used in fabrication meet required specifications and shelf-life requirements before use. Clean fabricated parts as needed during and after fabrication operations to maintain quality and readiness for subsequent processes. Use hand tools and basic mechanical assembly techniques safely and effectively during daily tasks. Follow all applicable work instructions, quality procedures, and safety guidelines in an industrial manufacturing environment. Essential Skills Expansive experience with aerospace composite assembly and fabrication, including work with carbon fiber, Kevlar, and complex adhesive systems. High school diploma or GED. At least two (2) years of prior work experience in a professional environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and manufacturing instructions. Operational knowledge of basic measurement tools such as scales and calipers. Proficiency in mechanical assembly using hand tools and basic shop equipment. Strong work ethic and discipline suitable for work on spacecraft and military hardware. Ability to perform a wide range of fabrication duties with a high degree of craftsmanship. Comfort working Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with the flexibility to work overtime as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience assembling aircraft components and subassemblies in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with advanced composite materials and adhesive bonding processes. Ability to follow detailed specifications, work instructions, and customer requirements. Work Environment This position is based at an industrial manufacturing site focused on advanced thermal and structural solutions for critical applications. You will work on-site in a hands-on production environment using hand tools, measurement instruments such as scales and calipers, and other standard shop equipment. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with overtime as needed to support production demands. The dress code is casual and practical, allowing T-shirts, jeans, and tennis shoes, suitable for a manufacturing floor while maintaining safety and professionalism.
