Medical Device Assembler Job Description This role involves performing a wide range of electronic and mechanical assembly tasks, from repetitive production work to complex prototype builds. You will assemble, inspect, and test components and subassemblies for medical devices while following detailed instructions, diagrams, and quality standards in a clean and organized production environment. Responsibilities Perform a variety of production assembly operations on electronic and mechanical assemblies and subassemblies, including modules, boards, panels, drawers, frames, and cables. Work from visual aids, method layouts, diagrams, schematics, process flow sheets, and written or verbal assembly instructions to complete tasks accurately and efficiently. Set up initial layouts and use hand tools, power tools, jigs, saws, and related equipment to assemble components and products. Make continuity checks on work in process and completed assemblies to ensure proper function and adherence to specifications. Conduct quality inspections on the processing line in accordance with established quality specifications and document any issues as required. Disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions. Provide production support in manufacturing operations and/or distribution centers, including assembly, machinery operation, processing, packaging, and distribution of products. Set up and operate automatic or semiautomatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production or processing operation. Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunctions or abnormalities in machines to higher-level personnel, recommending and/or making adjustments to methods and processes as appropriate. Support shipping, receiving, inventory control, or storage of products in distribution centers as needed to maintain smooth production and distribution flow. Essential Skills Minimum 2 years of experience in a related assembly or manufacturing role, with the ability to demonstrate skills through testing if needed. Hands-on experience with mechanical and electronic assembly, including working with modules, boards, panels, frames, and cables. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, visual aids, method layouts, and process flow sheets. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for assembly, including jigs and saws. Experience performing soldering and rework on electronic assemblies, with attention to detail and quality. Capability to perform continuity checks and basic electrical checks on assemblies. Familiarity with production and assembly line environments, including following standardized work instructions and processes. Experience working with wiring and electronics in a light industrial or manufacturing setting. Ability to perform quality inspections and adhere to defined quality specifications and standards. Comfort working with microscopes and precision measuring tools such as tape measures for detailed assembly work. Strong general labor skills, including manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to handle small components. Experience in manufacturing environments, highly preferred, with an understanding of production workflows and timelines. Prefered Skills & Qualifications Experience in cleanroom or controlled environments for assembly work. Experience medical device assembly or medical assembly processes. Familiarity with electronic assembly practices, including handling sensitive components and following ESD-safe procedures. Experience operating automatic or semiautomatic production machinery and related equipment. Exposure to distribution center activities such as shipping, receiving, inventory control, and product storage. Ability to adapt to both repetitive and nonrepetitive tasks in a production setting. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Good communication skills for understanding verbal instructions and collaborating with team members. The position follows a first-shift schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the possibility of overtime. Work takes place in a light industrial production setting that may include cleanroom or controlled areas, assembly lines, and distribution center operations such as shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
