CNC Mill Machinist

CNC Mill Machinist (3 & 4 Axis) - Day Shift Position Overview We're hiring a skilled CNC Mill Machinist to join our growing machine shop team. In this role, you'll set up and run 3-axis vertical and 4-axis horizontal mills to produce high-quality, precision parts. This is a great opportunity for a machinist who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and variety in a collaborative shop environment. What You'll Do Set up and operate CNC milling machines (3-axis vertical & 4-axis horizontal) Machine precision parts directly from blueprints and drawings Perform full CNC setups (work offsets, tool offsets, program verification) Use edge finders and indicators for accurate setups Build and set up your own tooling (drills, taps, end mills, etc.) Run manual equipment when needed (Bridgeport, lathe, grinder, drill press) Select proper tooling and adjust feeds/speeds for materials Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and precision tools Apply GD&T principles to hold tight tolerances Support general shop needs, including occasional assembly work Maintain a clean and safe work environment What We're Looking For Experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines Strong setup skills on vertical and/or horizontal mills Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T Experience with tooling selection and setup Proficient with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) Familiarity with Fanuc controls Ability to hold tight tolerances with high attention to detail Comfortable with both CNC and manual machining Self-motivated and able to work independently Preferred Qualifications Experience with 4-axis horizontal CNC mills Strong working knowledge of GD&T Ability to plan machining operations from a print Troubleshooting and problem-solving experience Forklift or shop equipment experience (a plus) Why You'll Love Working Here Day shift schedule (great work-life balance) Full benefits package (health, dental, vision) 401(k) plan Small, tight-knit team (approx. 16 employees) Variety of work - not repetitive production-only machining Opportunity to grow your CNC and manual machining skills Work Environment & Schedule Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Clean, organized machine shop environment Equipment includes: 3-axis vertical mills 4-axis horizontal mills Manual mills, lathes, grinders, and drill presses Work with aluminum through mild steel materials Apply Today If you're a machinist who enjoys precision work, independence, and a team-oriented shop , apply now and grow your career with us. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
