Injection Mold Technician - 2nd Shift Job Description This role supports a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility by setting up, operating, and maintaining injection molding machinery on the 2nd shift. You will ensure equipment runs safely and efficiently, support continuous production, and contribute to a clean, climate-controlled, and safety-focused environment. Initial training will take place on 1st shift for approximately two weeks before transitioning to the regular 2nd shift schedule, Monday through Friday. Why Work Here? Responsibilities Set up injection molding and related machinery in accordance with production requirements and safety standards. Operate injection molding machines and other production equipment to manufacture automotive components such as headliners, door trim, and bodyside parts. Perform routine maintenance on machinery to ensure reliable and efficient operation. Troubleshoot mechanical issues on injection molding equipment and related machines to minimize downtime. Follow written safety instructions and procedures while working with mechanical and electrical systems, including equipment controlled by PLCs. Monitor machine performance and product quality, making adjustments as needed to maintain consistent output. Support continuous production in a facility that operates seven days a week across three shifts by maintaining equipment readiness during the assigned 2nd shift. Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to address equipment concerns and improve machine performance. Maintain a clean and organized work area in alignment with the facility's safety and cleanliness standards. Essential Skills 6 to 12 months of experience with injection molding or machine operation. Experience setting up production machinery in a manufacturing environment. Experience performing basic maintenance on machinery. Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn new equipment and processes. Ability to read, write, and understand safety instructions. Ability to understand information related to electrical systems and PLC-controlled equipment. Demonstrated record of reliable or near-perfect attendance. Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, with initial training on 1st shift. Work Environment The role is based in a large automotive manufacturing plant serving the upper Ohio region, with a campus of over 352,000 square feet and more than five hundred personnel. The facility produces headliners, door trim, bodyside parts, and includes foam manufacturing capabilities for headliner forming. Operations include injection mold presses ranging from 100 to 3000 tons. The plant runs production seven days a week across three shifts, while this position works on 2nd shift Monday through Friday, with initial training on 1st shift for approximately two weeks. The facility is clean, climate-controlled, and strongly safety oriented. Uniform expectations include a cotton shirt and jeans, with steel-toe footwear required and reimbursed. You will work around mechanical and electrical equipment, including PLC-controlled machinery, in a structured, high-volume manufacturing environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Upper Sandusky, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.54 - $29.63/hr.
