Industrial Mechanic Job Description As an Industrial Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining all types of production equipment used in an industrial baking plant. You will work with conveyor belt systems, heaters, ovens, mixers, rolling systems, and basic heating and cooling systems. Your role will also involve fabricating replacement parts for machinery using basic bench top tools and welding equipment. You will follow a daily checklist for preventative tasks and handle any emergency maintenance as needed. Accurate documentation is crucial as you will work in a Food Production Facility. Additionally, you will assist operators during changeovers and troubleshoot issues before adding dough during production runs. Responsibilities Maintain and repair production equipment in an industrial baking plant. Work with conveyor belts, heaters, ovens, mixers, and rolling systems. Fabricate replacement parts using basic tools and welding equipment. Complete preventative tasks and handle emergency maintenance. Document all maintenance activities meticulously. Use appropriate materials and supplies on machinery. Assist operators during changeovers and troubleshoot issues during production runs. Essential Skills General mechanical knowledge of gears, conveyors, bearings, and bushings. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools. Strong electrical knowledge, including understanding of wiring, troubleshooting shorts/surges, and installation of VFDs. Ability to operate, troubleshoot, edit, or program PLC input/output systems. Basic metal fabrication skills such as drilling, finishing, and welding. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with automated or production equipment, though automotive experience is also applicable. High attention to detail, especially in completing logs and using food-grade materials. Why Work Here? Hair nets and beard guards are required due to the food production setting. Uniforms with names are provided, and steel-toed, safety sole boots are necessary. The facility operates 24/7 with four different shifts, including night shifts, and offers extensive training. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fargo, ND. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
