Job Title: Gauge Calibration Technician (Onsite, Full-Time - 1st Shift)
Job Description
The Gauge Calibration Technician procures, tracks, maintains, and calibrates mechanical and electrical measurement devices used throughout the facility. This onsite, first-shift role supports Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams by ensuring that all gauges and precision measuring instruments are accurate, reliable, and ready for use in production.
Responsibilities
- Acquire mechanical and electrical measurement devices as requested by Quality, Engineering, or Manufacturing teams.
- Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine appropriate device classification and usage.
- Assign and mark devices with unique identification numbers to ensure proper tracking and traceability.
- Prepare measurement devices for use on the production floor by following established procedures and guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and repair measurement devices as needed to maintain accuracy and functionality.
- Assist in determining suitable measurement methods for non-standard or unique measurement requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of the location, status, and calibration history for all measurement devices.
- Issue calibrated devices to manufacturing prior to the start of production to support timely operations.
- Perform scheduled verification and calibration of all devices in accordance with established procedures.
- Document verification and calibration results clearly and accurately per defined procedures.
- Report non-conforming devices to the appropriate personnel and support resolution activities.
- Follow all required safety practices while working with measurement equipment and on the production floor.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned to support the needs of the facility.
Essential Skills
- Ability to calibrate precision measuring devices, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Fundamental calibration skills and understanding of measurement principles.
- Basic quality control knowledge related to measurement and inspection.
- Completion of a one-year technical program OR three to six months of relevant experience or training OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when performing measurements and documenting results.
- Ability to follow established procedures and safety practices consistently.
- Effective organizational skills to manage multiple devices and maintain accurate records.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a calibration, quality control, or metrology environment.
- Familiarity with mechanical and electrical measurement devices used in manufacturing.
- Comfort collaborating with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.
- Flexibility to perform additional duties as assigned in a production support environment.
Work Environment
This is an onsite, full-time position on the first shift with flexible hours, typically structured as a 50-hour work week that includes 10 hours of guaranteed overtime. The facility is climate controlled, providing a comfortable and stable working environment. The role involves working in a production and quality-focused setting that uses a variety of mechanical and electrical measurement devices. The technician works closely with cross-functional teams on the production floor and in calibration areas, following established procedures and safety practices. The facility is shared with another organization under related ownership, creating a collaborative industrial environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hanover Park, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
