Job Title: Injection Mold Technician
Job Description
The Injection Mold Technician supports high-volume plastics manufacturing by setting up molds, machines, and robotics, executing material changeovers, and troubleshooting process issues to ensure stable, efficient, and repeatable production. This role plays a key part in new process development, process validation, and continuous improvement initiatives, while serving as an on-floor technical resource for both production and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Perform mold, machine, and robotic setup activities to support production requirements and ensure timely start-up of manufacturing runs.
- Execute material changeovers efficiently and troubleshoot material handling systems to maintain uptime and production efficiency.
- Diagnose and resolve mold, machine, and process issues to ensure stable, repeatable, and high-quality production processes.
- Support new process development by assisting with the validation of process parameters and overall system performance.
- Program and adjust Fanuc robotic systems, including modifying existing programs to optimize performance and cycle times.
- Analyze and evaluate process performance, including cycle times, scrap rates, and overall efficiency, to identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead and support scrap reduction initiatives through root cause analysis and process optimization activities.
- Validate molding processes by adjusting parameters and performing system checks to ensure process consistency and product quality.
- Work with and optimize value gate controllers and other process control systems to improve process stability and throughput.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying gaps between current and optimal process conditions and implementing corrective actions.
- Act as an on-floor technical resource, providing hands-on support to both production and engineering teams.
- Serve as a key liaison between technicians and engineers to ensure strong communication and effective execution of process improvements.
- Provide coaching and guidance to less experienced technicians to elevate overall team capability and technical proficiency.
- Support the implementation of best practices in molding, automation, and process control technologies across the production floor.
Essential Skills
- Proven ability to perform mold, machine, and robotic setup in a plastics injection molding environment.
- Hands-on experience executing material changeovers and troubleshooting material handling systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for mold, machine, and process issues in manufacturing operations.
- Experience programming and adjusting Fanuc robotic systems, including modifying existing programs.
- Demonstrated capability in scrap reduction through process improvement and root cause analysis.
- Ability to analyze process performance metrics such as cycle times, scrap rates, and efficiency.
- Experience validating molding processes, including parameter adjustments and system checks.
- Familiarity working with value gate controllers and other process control systems.
- Strong communication skills to act as a liaison between technicians and engineers.
- Ability to provide on-floor technical support and coaching to other technicians.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in process improvement and analysis within a plastics injection molding environment.
- Background in implementing best practices in molding, automation, and process control technologies.
- Demonstrated experience leading or supporting continuous improvement and scrap reduction initiatives.
- Experience mentoring or training less experienced technicians in a manufacturing setting.
Work Environment
The role is based in a plastics injection molding manufacturing environment that utilizes molding machines, value gate controllers, and Fanuc robotic systems. Work is performed on the production floor, closely supporting live manufacturing operations and collaborating with both production and engineering teams in a hands-on, technical setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $72800.00/yr.
