Electric Sit-Down Forklift Operator Job Description This role operates an electric sit-down forklift in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment that supports food production. You will spend most of your shift on the forklift moving materials, loading and unloading trucks, and supporting inventory control while adhering to strict safety and food manufacturing standards. Responsibilities Operate an electric sit-down forklift safely and efficiently for approximately 85%-95% of each shift. Load and unload trucks, ensuring accurate and damage-free handling of pallets and packaged products. Move materials throughout the warehouse and production areas, including placing and retrieving pallets from a racking system with sliding track racks. Use RF scanners to scan pallets and packages and maintain accurate inventory records. Support shipping and receiving activities, including staging, organizing, and verifying incoming and outgoing loads. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and site safety procedures at all times. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with food manufacturing standards. Inspect forklift and other equipment before use, report issues, and follow proper lockout and safety protocols as required. Essential Skills At least 1 year of recent experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Proven ability to operate an electric sit-down forklift safely for the majority of a 10-hour shift. Experience with RF scanners for scanning pallets, packages, and inventory. Hands-on experience with material handling, including picking, loading, unloading, and staging freight. Working knowledge of basic inventory processes and documentation. Ability to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a food manufacturing environment. Capability to follow detailed safety and cleanliness guidelines, including required PPE and attire. Reliability to work full 10-hour shifts on either first or second shift as scheduled. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a food manufacturing or food distribution environment is beneficial. Familiarity with shipping and receiving operations, including dock work and truck loading procedures. Comfort working with warehouse racking systems, including track racks or other specialized storage systems. Strong attention to detail when scanning and tracking inventory. Work Environment This position is based in a food manufacturing and warehouse facility where you will operate an electric sit-down forklift for most of a 10-hour shift. You will work either on first shift (5:00 a.m. - 3:40 p.m.) or second shift (1:30 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.), each consisting of approximately 10 hours. The environment follows strict Good Manufacturing Practices, which require specific attire: 6-inch steel-toe boots, hair net and beard net as applicable, and no jewelry, fake nails, or loose clothing.
