Position Summary:

Our client is seeking a mid to senior level Industrial Hygiene Technician to support their asbestos, hazardous materials, and indoor air quality projects through field inspections, air monitoring, abatement oversight, and reporting. This role is primarily hands on and field based, working in commercial and industrial facilities. Responsibilities include conducting AHERA, NESHAP, OSHA, HUD, and EPA compliant building surveys, performing asbestos and lead based paint inspections, collecting air and bulk samples, and completing clearance monitoring. The technician will assist with mold and water damage assessments, indoor air quality investigations related to occupant complaints, and occupational exposure monitoring for chemical and physical hazards. The role also includes preparing field documentation and reports, coordinating with contractors and clients, and supporting senior staff on complex projects, with opportunities for increased responsibility as the team grows.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Must be enrolled in a B.S. program of study in a field such as Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental Science.

(A Bachelors degree in an occupational safety and health curriculum is preferred.)

Must have ability to work varying work shifts including nights and weekends.

Must have a reliable personal vehicle.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Must have good technical writing skills.

Must be able to pass a drug, bkgd , and reference screen.

Bonus: familiarity with OSHA regulations, asbestos, lead, or mold related training or certifications such as AHERA inspector, asbestos air monitoring, asbestos project monitor, or lead inspector risk assessor coursework, and experience with air sampling, bulk sampling, or clearance monitoring for asbestos or other hazardous materials.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troy, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
