Schedule: M-F: 8-5, Occasional OT and weekend ________________________________________ Job Summary The Process Technician plays a critical hands-on technical role in supporting cleanroom optical ribbon and fiber optic cable manufacturing. This position provides advanced process expertise, equipment troubleshooting, and technical leadership while remaining on a non-management technical career path. The role supports stable operations, continuous improvement, and production scale-up in a fast-growing manufacturing environment. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Process & Equipment Support Operate, monitor, and optimize cleanroom-based optical ribbon and cable manufacturing processes Perform advanced setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of ribbonization, fiber handling, and bonding equipment Lead process start-ups, line qualifications, and product changeovers Troubleshoot complex quality issues including attenuation, ribbon geometry, fiber alignment, and bonding integrity Support preventive maintenance and equipment reliability initiatives Quality & Compliance Ensure adherence to cleanroom protocols, SOPs, and safety requirements Monitor in-line and off-line quality metrics and drive corrective actions Ensure compliance with ISO, Telcordia/GR, IEC, and customer specifications Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) Continuous Improvement Analyze process data using SPC and manufacturing systems to improve yield, throughput, and uptime Support Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives Assist with new equipment installation, process transfers, and plant expansion efforts Technical Leadership Serve as a technical mentor to Process Technicians and Operators Provide hands-on training and technical guidance without direct people management responsibilities Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for assigned processes or equipment ________________________________________ Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or related field preferred 2-3 years of experience in optical fiber, ribbon, or precision manufacturing Strong knowledge of cleanroom operations and contamination control Hands-on experience with optical fiber handling, ribbonization, and precision equipment Proficiency in SPC, MES, and process data analysis Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, specifications, and procedures Strong troubleshooting, communication, and mentoring skills ________________________________________ Preferred Qualifications Experience with high-count or rollable ribbon fiber products Knowledge of Telcordia GR-20, GR-409, GR-326, IEC standards Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification Experience supporting rapid production scale-up in a cleanroom environment ________________________________________ Physical & Work Requirements Ability to work on the cleanroom manufacturing floor for extended periods Manual dexterity for fine fiber handling and equipment adjustments Ability to lift up to 25 lbs Ability to wear cleanroom garments for full shift ________________________________________ Work Environment Day shift in a controlled cleanroom optical manufacturing facility Exposure to controlled fiber materials, precision equipment, and cleanroom processes Nesco Resource offers a comprehensive benefits package for our associates, which includes a MEC (Minimum Essential Coverage) plan that encompasses Medical, Vision, Dental, 401K, and EAP (Employee Assistance Program) services.
