Pharmaceutical Production Technician Job Description The Filling Technician supports production by preparing, cleaning, and sterilizing glassware and equipment, handling media and supplement preparation, and filling drums with product in a controlled laboratory and production environment. This role works on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, with a flexible start time between 6:30 AM and 10:00 AM and an end time between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM, with occasional weekend or holiday work based on business needs. The position requires consistent standing, careful documentation, and adherence to strict cleanliness and sterilization procedures in conditions that may include heat and high humidity. Responsibilities Manually wash or operate machines to wash and remove impurities from glass products, manufactured articles, and plastics. Prepare all glassware for sterilization, including washing, wrapping, and organizing items for autoclaving. Operate autoclaves safely and efficiently, including handling loads that may require lifting up to 50 pounds. Remove glassware and media from autoclaves, cool items appropriately, and tighten lids to maintain sterility. Put away and rotate glassware and laboratory supplies to ensure proper inventory flow and availability. Prepare equipment and materials for autoclaving according to established procedures. Perform media and supplement preparation, including aseptic work in the media preparation area as required. Fill drums with product accurately and safely, following production and quality standards. Maintain clear and precise documentation of processes and activities in accordance with record-keeping requirements. Maintain, clean, and sterilize laboratory instruments and equipment to support ongoing production. Perform routine cleaning of the processing area to uphold cleanliness and safety standards. Assist with training new employees by demonstrating proper procedures and best practices. Cross-train and work in multiple functional areas as needed to support business needs. Requisition materials and supplies for the department as needed to maintain continuous operations. Work flexible hours, including weekends and/or holidays, as required by business demands. Perform other duties as assigned to support production and laboratory operations. Essential Skills Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout production areas for the duration of the shift. Strong attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination for handling glassware and equipment. Capability to work effectively in environments with heat and high humidity around autoclaves and moist conditions during disinfection. Basic understanding of production processes, including cleaning, washing, and sterilization. Ability to follow written procedures and maintain clear, precise documentation of processes. Comfort working with laboratory instruments, autoclaves, and related production equipment. High School diploma or GED equivalency. Additional Skills & Qualifications Some post-secondary education is preferred. Experience working with production equipment, including washers and sterilization systems. Familiarity with sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques in a laboratory or production environment. Experience with documentation processes in a regulated or process-driven setting. Ability to assist in training new team members and support cross-training in multiple functional areas. Flexibility to adjust hours and work occasional weekends and holidays based on business needs. Work Environment This role is based in a production and laboratory setting that involves working around autoclaves and other sterilization equipment. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, have good eyesight, and maintain strong hand-eye coordination to handle glassware and instruments safely. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
