Opportunity: CNC Machinist | Niles, IL | Full-time About Us and Role Overview: We are a specification-grade LED lighting manufacturer delivering a wide range of highly modifiable high-performance, high-color lighting solutions. We are seeking to fill a full-time CNC Machinist position in Niles, IL 60714 (On-site). This person will be responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to manufacture precision components used in lighting fixtures. This role ensures parts are produced safely, efficiently, and to quality standards while supporting continuous improvement in manufacturing processes. Responsibilities: Develop, test, and edit CNC programs (G-code/M-code) using CAD/CAM software to define toolpaths, speeds, and feeds. Set up, operate, and monitor vertical CNC machines to produce parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. Load programs, set tooling, fixtures, and offsets. Manufacture components that meet dimensional, cosmetic, and functional requirements for lighting fixtures. Perform first-article inspections and make necessary adjustments. Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers) to inspect finished parts against blueprints and tolerances. Identify and correct machining issues to minimize scrap and rework. Collaborate with the engineering team to optimize manufacturing processes, improve product quality, and meet production deadlines. Create, review, and maintain engineering drawings, setup sheets, and operator manuals. Maintain consistent quality throughout production runs. Clean and perform preventative maintenance on the machine. Qualifications: Associates degree or Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or vocational training/apprenticeship in CNC machining. Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing field. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, preferably SolidWorks. Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), blueprint reading, and machine tool operation. Experience machining aluminum, steel, or specialty metals used in lighting products. Experience with lighting, architectural, or metal fabrication industries. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues. Ability to translate mechanical documents and engineering drawings. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Great attention to detail with a goal-driven attitude. Proficient computer skills with MS Office. Strong command of the English Language and strong written skills. Physical Demands: Manual dexterity to perform all job functions Ability to do basic math including measurement conversions.
