Angott Search Group is pleased to partner with a Michigan manufacturer in the search for a Director of Purchasing / Production Control.
This is a key leadership opportunity for an experienced manufacturing and supply chain professional to oversee purchasing, materials management, production scheduling, inventory control, and supply chain coordination activities for the organization. Reporting directly to the President, this individual will play a critical role in driving operational efficiency, supplier performance, production flow, and customer delivery execution within a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will bring a hands-on leadership style, strong operational and analytical capabilities, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams to support manufacturing excellence and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all purchasing and procurement activities for raw materials, components, tooling, outside services, and operational supplies.
- Develop sourcing strategies that support cost, quality, delivery, and operational objectives.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Manage purchasing budgets and spending controls.
- Develop and maintain production schedules that support customer delivery requirements and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate production priorities across manufacturing departments.
- Work closely with operations leadership to balance production demands and resource availability.
- Manage inventory planning and control processes.
- Improve inventory accuracy and cycle count processes.
- Coordinate incoming materials and supplier delivery schedules.
Qualifications:
- Experience leading purchasing, production control, scheduling, and materials management functions within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and production planning processes.
- Experience working within precision manufacturing, tooling, machining, or industrial manufacturing environments preferred.
- Proven ability to negotiate supplier agreements and manage vendor relationships.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and operate with urgency in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing planning tools preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and manufacturing leadership experience.
