Engineering Battery Department is seeking a highly motivated Seibi Technician / Engineering Technician to support advanced battery manufacturing operations and capital project activities.
This role will support machine installation, equipment startup, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and production readiness activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting machine setup, improving operational availability, and executing capital projects from planning through Start of Production (SOP).
The ideal candidate will possess strong industrial controls and troubleshooting experience, along with the ability to support equipment integration, machine optimization, and production launch activities.
- Test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment and industrial systems including:
- Circuits
- Relay logic
- Wiring
- Motors
- Servo drives
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Support machine integration into mass production including leveling, adjustments, and quality confirmation activities
- Execute machine setup and Seibi activities to support production readiness
- Support equipment modifications and continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational availability (OA)
- Perform root cause analysis and implement countermeasures related to safety, quality, and productivity
- Develop and maintain detailed schedules for assigned projects and work areas
- Support machine trials at vendor locations and Toyota manufacturing facilities
- Document work performed using written and electronic reporting methods
- Certify equipment safety standards through White Kanban Check processes
- Collaborate with engineering teams, contractors, vendors, and manufacturing operations to support project milestones
- Support overtime, shutdown, holiday, and weekend activities based on production schedules
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Industrial Controls or Engineering Technician experience within a manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting equipment installation, modification, troubleshooting, and optimization
- Strong electrical troubleshooting experience within industrial manufacturing environments
- Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
- Strong understanding of industrial equipment installation and utility systems
- Ability to identify deficiencies, develop corrective action plans, and track issues through completion
- Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%
- Ability to support overtime, weekends, holidays, and shutdown schedules as needed
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk throughout a large manufacturing facility for extended periods
- Ability to climb stairs and access elevated equipment areas
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and crawl to access equipment
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds
- Technical Associate Degree or higher, or equivalent experience
- Experience supporting pre-production equipment setup
- Experience gathering and analyzing quality data for root cause analysis
- High-volume manufacturing experience
- Clean room manufacturing experience
