Engineering Lab Technician

Position Overview:

This is a hands-on position that requires a broad understanding of the equipment and processes. reads and interprets schematic drawings, blueprints, and diagrams to assemble electronic components according to product specifications. Familiar with standard assembly concepts, practices, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and repair precision electromechanical parts, assemblies, and equipment.
  • Align, fit, and assemble component parts into completed units, using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and templates.
  • Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to blueprint specifications, using instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauge.
  • Examine parts for defects, repairs, reworks, and calibrate assemblies to meet operational tolerances.
  • Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Work with manufacturing personnel, other technicians, and process engineers to follow project plans, execute material testing and equipment maintenance, and collection of data for analysis.

  • Helping run or setting up for engineering build request or assisting with coordinating the build.
  • Collection of data, documentation of procedures (updating procedures / Routes), and training of operators are also important parts of this role.

Key Competencies & Skills required:

  • Experience in hand soldering, manually placing small parts or components onto an electrical assembly.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Able to work and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 lbs, works in awkward positions as necessary, walks, stands, or sits for extended periods.

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is expected.
  • Associate's degree in Electronics is a plus or 3 years test and measurement experience is required for this position.
  • Some overtime will be required from time to time.
  • Ability to work well with others from all disciples of the Company is expected.
  • 5 years of relative experience required.
