CNC Lathe Machinist III - Level III | Ogden, UT

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a skilled machinist who can independently perform complex setups, troubleshoot production challenges, and drive process improvements. Responsibilities
Perform full setups on complex CNC lathe jobs, including tooling selection, offsets, workholding, and program verification
Run multi-operation parts with tight tolerances and critical surface finishes
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues; implement corrective actions
Optimize feeds, speeds, tool life, and cycle times to improve efficiency and consistency
Apply GD&T and blueprint interpretation to setup strategy and inspection planning
Conduct advanced in-process inspections using precision measurement tools
Support first article builds, engineering releases, and new product introductions
Document setups, tooling strategies, and standard work for repeatability
Mentor Level I and II machinists through hands-on training and support
Monitor process performance and take action to prevent defects and ensure production goals
Collaborate with Engineering and Quality on process improvements and fixture development
Perform preventive maintenance and identify early equipment issues
Maintain organized and efficient work areas in alignment with 5S standards
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, scrap reduction, and throughput
Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout protocols
Qualifications
5+ years of CNC lathe machining experience or equivalent advanced skill level
Proven ability to independently complete complex setups and troubleshoot production issues
Advanced blueprint reading skills, including GD&T application
Strong metrology experience with the ability to validate critical features
Experience optimizing tooling and improving machining processes
Ability to mentor and guide less experienced machinists
Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
Commitment to safety, quality, and standardized work practices
U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required (ITAR compliance)
Preferred
Swiss-type or Citizen lathe experience
Multi-axis or live tooling experience
Experience with first article inspections and process validation
Fixture or tooling design input experience
Background in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
Pay
$30.00-$42.00 per hour
Schedule
Full Time | Day Shift | Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-3:00 PM
