Field Service Technician

  • Diagnose, repair, rebuild, and service ready-mix concrete batch plant machinery (motors, hydraulic/pneumatic valves, conveyors, weigh batchers) and concrete mixer trucks, including drums, chutes, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform AC/DC electric motor diagnostics, rebuilds, and installations on generators, pumps, and rotating equipment; resolve mechanical, electrical (12/24V DC), and pneumatic issues to minimize production downtime.
  • Execute electrical testing, mechanical inspections, and equipment disassembly using precision tools, hand tools, welders, and cutting torches in compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Install new concrete production equipment and components; read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and computer-based batch control systems.
  • Interface with batch plant operators and mixer truck drivers to troubleshoot operational issues and communicate equipment status, repair recommendations, and scope of work to supervisors and management.
  • Complete federally required DOT annual truck and trailer inspections and maintain accurate documentation per FMCSR 396.19 standards; complete all assigned web-based and DOT-required training.
  • Maintain company equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly condition; adhere to all HAZMAT, contamination control, and safety policies; make warranty recommendations as applicable.
  • Travel regionally to customer and branch locations as required, with availability for early mornings, late nights, weekends, and emergency repairs based on production demands.
  • Own and maintain personal tools; promote Suntec core principles and a collaborative, safety-first work culture; perform other related duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment repair, or electrical systems highly preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of field service or mechanical repair experience in aggregate, ready-mix concrete, construction, or manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of electromechanical systems, batch plant controls, and industrial motor components, with proficiency across hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, brake, powertrain, air brake, diesel, and gas engine systems; experience with batch plant systems, mixer trucks, or industrial motor repair a significant advantage.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics; competent with electronic diagnostic tools, scanning equipment, and computer-based control systems.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL-A preferred (or ability to obtain); must hold air brake inspection certification per FMCSR 396.25 and ability to complete annual commercial vehicle certifications per FMCSR 396.19 and all DOT-required training and TRAIN test evaluation.
  • Effective English communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to work independently, prioritize under pressure, and collaborate with operators, drivers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Dependable self-starter with sound field judgment; must adhere to company safety policies, grooming standards, and professional conduct expectations.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, climb, balance, stoop, and kneel.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to work on-site and operate heavy equipment in varied outdoor weather conditions.
  • Close, distance, and peripheral vision required.
  • May operate a forklift with appropriate certification.
