About the Role

As a Plant Manager at Atlas Tube Zekelman Industries in Kansas City, MO, you will lead all aspects of plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-performing manufacturing processes. This role is responsible for planning, managing, monitoring, and controlling operations to meet financial objectives while driving continuous improvement, lean manufacturing initiatives, and operational excellence.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Human Resources, Safety, Finance, Sales, and Operations to resolve challenges, implement strategic initiatives, and support plant growth through safe and efficient manufacturing practices. This is a full-time, onsite role located in Chicago, IL.

This role is ideal for a results-driven manufacturing leader who excels at building high-performing teams, driving operational improvements, and maintaining strong safety and quality standards.

What Youll Do

  • Create operating plans for current and upcoming production periods to support operational goals and anticipate challenges.

  • Build and maintain a performance-driven culture focused on accountability, safety, operational metrics, and continuous improvement.

  • Provide clear organizational direction aligned with corporate goals, objectives, and vision across all plant departments.

  • Review daily operating reports to identify and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues to prevent delays and unnecessary costs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including HR, Safety, Finance, and Sales to address operational issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Develop policies, programs, and operational objectives impacting production scheduling, quality, and cost efficiency.

  • Lead implementation of new manufacturing initiatives, including resource allocation, production systems improvements, and best practice integration.

  • Hire, coach, develop, monitor, and evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions when necessary.

  • Foster a positive workplace culture by promoting teamwork, strong employee relations, and high morale across all levels of the plant.

  • Delegate work appropriately and provide clear instructions to ensure tasks are completed safely and in compliance with company procedures and regulatory standards.

  • Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role, preferably within ERW steel pipe or tube manufacturing environments.

  • Bachelors degree in Business Management, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience developing and leading high-performing operational teams across multiple organizational levels.

  • Solid labor relations experience preferred.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize critical operational issues.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external stakeholders.

  • Goal-oriented self-starter with strong decision-making ability and a sense of urgency in driving results.

  • Ability to think strategically and creatively when addressing operational challenges.

  • Working knowledge of ISO standards.

  • High ethical standards and commitment to operational integrity.

  • Ability to maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance.
