Prototyping Technician - Contingent Labor

Prototyping Technicians are responsible for creating prototypes that support new product development, utilizing a variety of skilled trade techniques to produce models and components. This role spans the entire development cyclefrom concept design through prototyping, testing, and validation.
In addition to operating a variety of machines, you will maintain and calibrate shop equipment, ensure a clean and safe work environment, and contribute to process improvements. You will collaborate closely with engineering, industrial design, and advanced development teams to bring innovative ideas to life.
Skills: (Beginner to Expert skill levels will be considered with compensation to reflect experience)
Partner with New Product Development teams to solve challenges and deliver high-quality prototypes on schedule.
Operate mills, lathes, grinders, and other shop equipment using proper machining techniques (speeds, feeds, set-ups).
Program CNC machines using CAM or conversational programming methods.
Interpret and work from engineering drawings with accuracy.
Maintain adequate inventory of raw materials, tooling, and shop supplies.
Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and cleaning of tools and equipment.
Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Participate in brainstorming sessions and provide feedback on design and process improvements.
Requirements: (Depending on experience level guidance from tenured Staff will be included)
Technical diploma, associate degree, or journeyman's card in a related field, or an equivalency in experience is a plus although we will consider anyone interested in this career.
Five years' experience in machining, tool & die, or construction with demonstrated high performance levels is desirable, but we would be willing to train the right candidate.
Working knowledge of MasterCAM design/programming software or other design/programming software ability is a plus, however candidates with an eagerness to learn these skills are encouraged to apply.
Work or educational experience with multiple skilled trades knowledge like CNC programing/operation, manual machining, fabrication, molding/casting, tool building, and general construction is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
