Manages inventory of parts, materials, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of water and sanitary sewer lines. Performs computer data entry into of inventory transactions. Picks up and delivers equipment, supplies, and material to work sites and suppliers. Maintains inventory counts of parts and materials regularly to insure the accuracy of available parts and materials and to determine if parts and materials need to be reordered. This position will report to the Line Repair Superintendent. This is a safety sensitive and/or DOT position. As such, you will be required to participate in random drug testing at the city.

Job Functions

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Maintains inventory of parts, materials, and equipment.
  • Maintains computer records related to inventory.
  • Picks up and delivers parts, materials, and equipment to job sites and suppliers.
  • Drives backhoes, forklift, dump trucks, and other related equipment
  • Communicates regularly with supervisors, team leads and crew teams to ensure required tools and parts are properly cared for and available
  • Conducts unannounced and periodic quality control review of vehicles alongside crew teams to ensure trucks are properly equipped.
  • Coordinates safety training for Line Repair department.
  • Subject to being on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Must be able to provide services for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations that threaten the safety of League City's citizens, and that, City employees must be able to work immediately before, during, or immediately after an emergency .

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 3-5 years of experience in the repair and/or construction of water and wastewater infrastructure preferred (Line Repair).
  • Knowledge of proper inventory procedures
Required Licenses or Certifications
  • Class I Wastewater Collection License
  • Class D Water Distribution License.

Any combination of education, training, and experience, which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position, may be substituted or evaluated at the discretion of the City.

  • Stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds.
