As a CNC Operator at Superior Tire & Rubber Corp., your primary responsibilities are to learn the machine operation to run product, proper loading, unloading, and to have a daily goal for quantity of parts to run, reporting your production and downtime, along with being able to measure and inspect product to required dimensions per required inspection sheet. Inspections will be conducted per interval noted on inspection sheet.
Essential Job Functions by Level:
Production Assistant
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding job status and any issues.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), as required.
- Follow the 5S principles: Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain
- Look for ways to improve production efficient using 5S Practices
- Keep your work area organized and ready for daily 5S inspections
Level I Machine Operation
- Load machine to run various parts.
- Follow a step-by-step training log for proper machine operation, including loading/unloading, machine controls, and routine maintenance.
- Execute all operations according to Superior Production System (SPS) standards.
- Training on how to follow and execute instructions per setup sheet.
- Capable of independent machine startup
- Meet required machine efficiency rate.
- Ability to fully inspect products independently
- Ability to read and comprehend prints
- Inspect parts at specified intervals per the inspection sheet.
- Operate measurement tools such as dial calipers, micrometers, and bore micrometers.
- Inspect tools and change inserts/tools at proper intervals to maintain tool life.
- Record and report any discrepancies or defects to your immediate supervisor.
- Execute Daily startup checklists, cranes, grinders, and machine fluids.
- Report any issues or need for repairs to department supervisor or lead machinist.
- Common G and M code understanding
- Tool touch offs
- Basic knowledge of work shift changes
- Record daily part production and downtime.
- Understand and follow dispatch lists
Level II Machine Operation
- Ability to independently follow and execute instructions per setup sheet
- Ability to make necessary programming, offset, and tooling adjustments.
- Understanding of advanced G and M Code, including G50's.
- Recognize and replace worn tools and inserts, as needed
Level III Machine Operation
- Comprehensive understanding of new setups and the ability to execute independently
- Ability to execute new program development, as assigned by Machine Programmer
- Ability to create or modify new or existing setup sheets
- Responsible for proving out sets for Operator I and II when required.
- Assists in technical troubleshooting for Assistant, Operator I and II.
