As a Crystals Machine Operator I with PCB Piezotronics, Inc., you will both independently and under direct supervision, work from drawings and/or written instructions, sets up and operates a variety of manual or CNC machinery and equipment to produce precision parts, performs production tasks that require the ability to follow written/verbal instructions and a thorough knowledge of techniques, materials, tools and equipment. Basic computer skills, and good documentation, time management, and communication skills is beneficial.

Additional Duties:

  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings, job routers and job procedures.
  • Learns and uses measuring instruments to inspect parts and may follow Q.C. sampling plan.
  • Responsible for simple set ups, operation, and cleaning of various CNC equipment per procedure. May operate Robodrill’s, grinders, dicers, lathes, lappers, low level X-ray equipment, hot plates, ovens, ultrasonic cleaners, laser etchers, vapor degreasers, precision test instrumentation, and other equipment as needed.
  • Completes all required paperwork and makes data collection transactions as needed.
  • Shows commitment to quality and total customer satisfaction through dedicating skills to achieve zero defect status and works with engineering to support continuous improvement projects.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work to ensure compliance to tolerance and company specifications.
  • Works with lead persons or higher-level machinists to identify dull or worn tools and make required tool offsets.
  • Sets up material and fixtures and completes simple jobs.
  • May need to jog and cycle a machine through all functions.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • May require assistance from lead persons or higher-level machinists.
  • Responsible for following company hazardous waste management procedures for hazardous wastes which are routinely generated through the manufacturing processes performed during normal duties.
  • Maintains a clean and organized working area and follows established department cleaning requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Must have basic shop math skills: addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and calculating averages.
  • Must have familiarity with engineering drawings, such as identifying a part number, revision, or drawing legend.
  • Must have familiarity with using measurement equipment such as a micrometer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BOCES Machine Shop or equivalent skilled trades school, preferred.
  • 1 or more years of machining experience preferred
