The Fixtures Equipment Maintenance and Calibration Technician is a vital member of the production support team, directly influencing the yield and availability of production equipment. As part of the maintenance organization, this role specializes in both routine and specialized maintenance of critical fixtures used in the factory to produce high-quality products. The technician is responsible for the upkeep and proper operation of these fixtures to ensure consistent manufacturing excellence. This includes performing maintenance and precise measurement activities to guarantee that parts meet specific requirements and achieve their intended design goals, ultimately supporting the factory's operational efficiency and product quality standards.

  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and the broader maintenance organization to ensure fixtures function according to their design purpose
  • Identify failure modes in fixtures and assist in developing effective solutions to prevent downtime and maintain quality
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) best practices to ensure proper functionality and deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Provide valuable data and input on potential design improvements to drive cost reduction and enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets
  • Utilize advanced measurement systems to verify fixture accuracy and ensure compliance with design specifications
  • Perform regular maintenance and calibration tasks on fixtures to prevent operational disruptions and maintain precision
  • Document maintenance activities and calibration results with meticulous attention to detail to support traceability and continuous improvement
  • Proven understanding of mechanical systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex fixture assemblies
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to interpret technical drawings and ensure fixture compliance with design standards
  • Experience using precision measurement systems (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMMs) to verify accuracy and maintain quality standards
  • Strong attention to detail to identify discrepancies, ensure precision in maintenance tasks, and uphold manufacturing quality
  • Technical certification or associate degree in a related field such as mechanical engineering technology or industrial maintenance
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance, calibration, or a similar role within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills to collaborate across departments

Essential Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
  • Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
  • Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
  • Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
  • Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump cap and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
