Equipment Operator

Summary

The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating machinery, overhead cranes, hoists, and material handling equipment to support manufacturing operations, including sequencing and staging of parts as needed. This role may also perform hands-on assembly tasks, including the use of hand and torque tools. The Equipment Operator follows standard work instructions to ensure tasks are completed safely, accurately, and in alignment with quality and production standards. This position is located in Waterloo, IA.

Essential Functions

  • Sequence products per customer specifications (product sequencing refers to the process of arranging products in a specific order)
  • Use RF scanning equipment to verify sequencing information.
  • Operate hand tools, assembly equipment, and basic office/warehouse equipment.
  • Sort products for quality checking and defect containment.
  • Perform quality checks per company/customer specifications
  • Ensure products are labeled and free from defects
  • Follow all safety and operational guidelines associated with operating crane and hoist equipment and/or mobile equipment
  • Accurately complete all paperwork/documentation associated with the position.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks such as sweeping or removing scrap, pallets, cardboard, etc.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned
  • Participate in all TVS SCS quality and excellence initiatives.

Travel

No travel is expected in this position.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous work experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Previous use of RF Scanning equipment and Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Must be able to identify products through reading, interpreting, and scanning pallet information
  • Ability to understand instructions in English
  • Knowledge of safety practices
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment involving tire and wheel operations is strongly preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The associate may occasionally be required to lift 51 pounds, anything greater than 51 pounds requires assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This job is performed in a complex manufacturing environment with multiple workstations, heavy machinery and frequent forklift traffic. The facility is subject to seasonal temperature changes. Employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toed shoes and any additional equipment as specified by company safety guidelines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Full Time, Non-Exempt. Schedule flexibility for extended or unplanned work hours is required. Regular and reliable attendance at work is expected.
