NOTE MSTThe Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation is currently seeking a full-time Trail Equipment Operator to join our Motorized Trail Program!
The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation Motorized Trail Program was created in 1970 to ensure quality motorized recreational opportunities remain available by providing for maintenance, education, and enforcement partnerships.
The Motorized Trails Program mission is to provide leadership statewide in the area of OHV recreation; to work with land managers to provide maintenance on designated trails, develop new opportunities, provide safety and education classes, and provide comment on all motorized travel planning within Idaho through the use of designated funding. Idaho has one of the largest trail systems in the United States, and you will be an integral part of keeping trails accessible to all users. As a Trail Equipment Operator you will have the opportunity to maintain and construct trails while experiencing the endless breathtaking views Idaho has to offer.
If chosen, you will work in a two person crew. Each person will carry a chainsaw, Pulaski, and shovel along with tank bags that carry gas, oil, tools for the saws, and other associated trail maintenance equipment mounted on an All-Terrain Vehicle ( ATV ). On occasion, you may be required to operate, maintain, and repair heavy equipment for IDPR in remote locations for the purpose of maintaining and constructing recreational trails/opportunities. During summer months, this position may require you work eight ten hour shifts, Wednesday Wednesday away from the home station.
