Position Summary Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for the overall operation of production departments and leadership of its people. This includes all functions of production departments processing raw and/or semi-processed products, filling, packaging, labeling, and corresponding workforce scheduling. The Production Manager will act in accordance with the laws and regulations, by practicing ofi values, ensuring compliance of policies, procedures, and plant rules. The ideal candidate for the Production Manager role will have a proven success record with leading and motivating teams. They should be flexible and reliable. Ability to lead a team, while also completing other demands/ projects will be required. A successful candidate for this position will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with competing demands and priorities. They will be able to ensure operations processes are standardized, followed, and audited, and yield and efficiency targets are achieved through proactive analysis, and optimization. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee all production operations including processing, packaging, labeling, and material flow.
  • Ensure strict adherence to standardized operating procedures (SOPs) and drive consistency across all shifts.
  • Proactively review and improve production processes; lead or support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for inefficiencies or quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate and timely production reporting (including downtime, yields, KPIs, and reconciliations).
  • Lead weekly performance reviews for yield, SAP accuracy, and production efficiency.
  • Drive ownership and accountability in daily and weekly performance meetings with clear follow-ups and resolution tracking.
  • Regularly review and analyze production yields across all lines and products, identifying trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Investigate root causes of low yields or deviations from targets, collaborating with engineering, quality, and operations teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize material utilization, minimize waste, and improve overall yield efficiency.
  • Track and report on yield improvements and their impact on profitability.
  • Establish and maintain robust systems for analytical tracking of key production performance metrics, including but not limited to OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), throughput, cycle times, downtime, and quality defects.
  • Utilize data analysis tools and methodologies to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process enhancements.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to drive operational excellence.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions based on performance data to achieve set targets and drive continuous improvement.
  • Generate regular reports on production performance, highlighting achievements, challenges, and proposed solutions to senior management.
  • Provide consistent leadership and performance management to both salaried and hourly team members.
  • Ensure a visible leadership presence on the floor to support, direct, and motivate teams.
  • Maintain real-time, respectful, and professional communication with the Plant Manager and cross-functional leaders, escalating critical issues as needed.
  • Foster a collaborative, solution-oriented culture that prioritizes alignment and mutual accountability.
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety regulations, occupational health requirements, and company internal control systems.
  • Support all third-party audits (e.g., GFSI, HACCP) and lead corrective action plans.
  • Oversee execution of validated kill step processes as applicable.
  • Assist in production scheduling, inventory planning, and labor optimization.
  • Support capital project proposals and implementation as required.
  • Provide direct support to the Plant Manager, including representing plant leadership in cross-functional meetings or during absences.
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives and contribute to long-term plant performance goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree is required, 4 years Production Manager experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree
  • Five (5) years leadership experience and the Manager level within a food manufacturing environment is required. Experience should include proven success at leading salaried and hourly employees in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Previous work experience managing budgets and production financial data is required.
  • Experienced with HACCP and GFSI audits
  • Previous work experience with a validated kill step is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, is required.
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish, is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with competing demands in a team environment is required.
