Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Plasma Table Operator to join our team in Lewisburg, PA. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a burn table, specifically with plasma cutting technology. The primary responsibilities of this role include setting up and operating CNC plasma cutting machines to cut, shape, and fabricate metal parts according to specifications.

This position places and removes sections of steel on and off the machine, while continuously monitoring and measuring material for adherence to specifications. This position is also responsible for maintaining the work area to facilitate production activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate overhead crane to load, unload and position material using lifting magnets, chains and/or straps.
• Operate computer panel of CNC Burn Table machine to set machine and obtain product specifications, utilizing existing programs as well as creating new programs for unique jobs.
• Study blueprints, layouts, sketches, and/or travelers to assess product specifications and to determine tooling instructions, tools and materials needed, and sequences of operations.
• Select and install cutting tools and other accessories according to specifications, using hand tools and/or power tools.
• Select cutting speeds, feed rates, and depths of cuts, applying knowledge of metal properties and shop mathematics.
• Compute dimensions, tolerances, and angles of steel products or machines, according to specifications and knowledge of metal properties and shop mathematics.
• Move controls to set cutting specifications, to position cutting tools and products in relation to each other, and to start machines.
• Remove products from machines, and check to ensure that they conform to specifications, using measuring instruments such as microscopes, gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
• Make templates or cutting tools as needed.
• Work with Drafting and Quality Departments in pursuit of continuous improvement to cycle times, quality of product or increasing efficiency of processes
• Perform preventative maintenance on machines as required/requested.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

• One to two years of experience operating a CNC burn table, preferably in a steel service center with plasma
• Read blueprints and tape measure
• Ability to program and operate the burn machine
• Proficiency in basic math, measurement, and calculation skills
• Familiarity with precision measuring instruments (i.e. Calipers, Micrometers, Gauges)
• High School Diploma or GED
