Maintenance Mechanic**

**Job Description**

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will perform major mechanical repairs with minimal supervision to ensure the optimal performance of equipment on site. You will coordinate with other mechanics on duty to complete repairs and ensure all assigned work is completed during your shift. Additionally, you will communicate daily activities with supervision, as well as previous and upcoming shift maintenance personnel.

**Responsibilities**

+ Perform minor and major repairs on all types of equipment, including packing/filling machines, cappers, labelers, seamers, case packers, case sealers, jar and case coders, mixers, heat exchangers, palletizers, de-palletizers, pallet wrappers, pumps, and other various plant equipment.

+ Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, focusing on mechanical aspects.

+ Execute the maintenance schedule, conscious of products being run in the production area.

+ Complete work orders as assigned.

+ Observe safety regulations, wear all required safety equipment, encourage safe working practices, and correct obvious hazards immediately or report them to supervisors.

+ Comply with all applicable standards such as USDA, FDA, relevant CFRs, GFSI, and other applicable customer requirements.

+ Adhere to the Premise and Equipment Program and the Master Preventative Schedule.

+ Meet customer needs and assure satisfaction.

+ Install new equipment and adjust the configuration of production equipment according to the production schedule.

+ Report any food safety or quality issues to the QA group or any other member of the food safety team.

+ Comply with company policies, including GMPs, LOTO, Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety, and more as directed by OSHA.

**Essential Skills**

+ 3+ years of mechanical experience in a food manufacturing environment.

+ High school diploma.

+ Understanding of production and plant processes.

+ Experience in troubleshooting with some electrical knowledge.

+ Commitment to company goals and employee safety.

+ Willingness to work overtime if necessary.

+ Flexibility, organization, and ability to accurately work under time constraints and deadlines.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ Welding ability is a plus.

+ Ability to operate forklifts, pallet trucks, and scissor lifts.

**Work Environment**

The work schedule is Monday to Thursday from 6 AM to 4 PM during the off-season, which is from October to July. During the peak season from July to October, the schedule shifts to Monday through Friday from 6 AM until finish, which could involve 12-hour shifts at times. Employees should be available to work on weekends if coverage is needed, although the current plan is not to work weekends.

**Pay and Benefits**

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
